Fellas . . do u like when women wear makeup ? If not, at what instance do you draw the lines ?
A little is good , too much NOT !!! For ya getting in the clown zone then, but I sometimes get them to tone it down after showing them some pictures of a demadex mites and other microbes, the same thing that gives dogs the mange which lives on humans like in your eye lashes and they feed on stuff like make up. I dont care for makeup, personally it just covers up who the person really is. Show your true self, if someone cant accept you for who you really are then they arent worth your time anyway.
I draw the line when a woman shaves her eyebrows completely off and repaints them on with mascara.
Most guys do not like make-up. It's almost to the point where ';a lot of make-up'; will scare them away. Make-up seems to suggest high maintenance.
For me, the line is - if I can't tell that you are wearing any make-up, then that's good make-up. You can go over this line a little ways especially with eye make-up but not by much.
That's my criteria. It doesn't mean anything. Just my opinion.
Addition: there is one exception. That exception is when the woman or girl is trying to make a statement with her make-up. Obvious example is a goth girl and her make-up. Another example is I dated a woman who would paint white lightening bolts on her eye brows to indicate (to those that knew her) that she was in a bad mood.

Also try to get freebies and trial size things at the dept. store. You can't imagine how generous they are. So buy good quality brushes/moisturizer/foundation from Lancome while they have an freebie offer and you will have high end makeup. If you treat your brushes well you can have them forver.
So basically MAc or Lancome. But Mac usually never has promotional/freebie offers, so Lancome usually gives best bang for the buck. If you run out of makeup when there is no promo, then ask the sales assisant sweetly and with a smile. Make sure your dressesd like a big spender (nice hair, makeup, well fitting clothes)
The VERY BEST is Clinique, but it is VERY EXPENSIVE too!!! I like cheap brands like Wet N' Wild and N.Y.C. or the Love My Face, ...Nails, ...Lips, ...Eyes stuff from Walmart. The cheap brands really work very good for the price ($.97-$3.00)

But since I don't have $2000 a year on make up and skin products, I've used what my dermatologist and one of my best friends (a professional make up artist in NYC) suggest.

Yeah- the cheap stuff doesn't compare to the better makeup. The feel, the smell, the texture, the wear.. nearly all the department store is superior to the drugstore stuff. I find the department store makeup (Estee Lauder, Lancome, Mac, etc.) are pretty comparable- Especially since Estee Lauder now owns most of them! And I do buy drugstore sometimes- nail polish, lip gloss, cleanser. The big deal for me, though, is skincare- moisturizers, repair products, preventive care. I don't buy the very very most expensive, but I do get the best I can afford. I only buy Chanel, Lancome or Mac. They have better quality make-up that lasts all day long. Lancome for it's foundation and mascara, Chanel for its lip glosses and Mac for it's liner.
I wouldn't buy the cheapest, but I don't go for the real pricey stuff either.
well foundation is really important....but other than that i would get anything that i like - but i usually stick to covergirl and revlon. Once in a while ill get stuff from NYC and wet n wild. NYC's eye pencil is really good

I go for quality. I mainly use Lancome. Their foundations and powder are great. And their Mascara is the best selling mascara in the USA. More importantly though is skin care. If you don't take care of your skin it will not matter how much you pay for your make-up. Always use a daily moisturizer with at least SPF 15. And I believe in eye cream as much as I believe in oxygen. lol
FYI.........everynight that you sleep in your makeup it ages your skin 7 days.

Foundation has to stay allday and eye shadows too but lipstick or eyes liner i dont mind having to re-apply. I actually like to do it.
I would spend money to avoid reapplying, but I've tried a lot of brands, and still usually need touch ups by noon. (MAC and tons of brands from Sephora included. . . .) I think MAC eyeshadow lasts a long time. The thing I have the most trouble with is eyeliner. I would spend twice as much if I could cut my time in half!
Well, not really. I use Maybelline and it's pretty reasonable compared to the other brands like Mary Kay and so on. But I don't have to reapply it anytime during the day. It's stays on from morning when I apply it till night.
I usually buy my makeup at the drug store but i tried sephoras makeup once and you can tell the difference of quality. there lip liner was 14.00 so i dont get it that often but it is the nicest shade of brown plus you can just put it all over your lips and add gloss and its lipstick.
I spend more on foundation, but all the rest of the makeup is the same, no matter the brand.

I usually spend around $250 a month on make-up because i don't like to reapply and the brand i buy lasts way longer, but is a little more expensive than others!
Spend your money on Foundation. That's the particular make-up that will look cheap if you go cheap. Unless you have really great skin and no oil problems.
Other than that you can go to a discount store for everything else. I like LashExact by Covergirl, Lip Stick by Wet-N-Wild, Eye Shadows by just about anyone.
The only time you need to spend more money on say eye shadow is if you have problems with your shadow creasing or fading. Then you will need to invest in something a little more expensive.
Go to some counters at the Mall and have them apply make-up early in the day. Pay attention to how it feels, whether it stays on your face, whether you breakout or not, how it looks. Take notes every time you go to a different counter. Then go on-line and contact consultants in your area for Avon, MaryKaye, and Beauticontrol. They will do make-overs for free. Again take notes and pay attention to how it looks and feels throughout an entire day.
Your foundation is the key. I love Beauticontrol's Wet/Dry foundation. I have combo skin and problems with acne and it's the only foundation that has ever felt this good, gone one easily, and stayed all day.
I'll stick with the cheaper stuff, especially because I have this super oily skin, and would need to reapply for that reason, plus I don't mind re-applying. This is just me personally, but I prefer doing $20 on a dress that'll make me feel sexy than on a new lipstick that I wouldn't use everyday.

Makeup makes you look good for a couple of hours- good skincare makes you look good for always!When shopping for makeup, would you spend more money on a product line that is significantly better quality?
I only buy Chanel, Lancome or Mac. They have better quality make-up that lasts all day long. Lancome for it's foundation and mascara, Chanel for its lip glosses and Mac for it's liner.
I wouldn't buy the cheapest, but I don't go for the real pricey stuff either.
well foundation is really important....but other than that i would get anything that i like - but i usually stick to covergirl and revlon. Once in a while ill get stuff from NYC and wet n wild. NYC's eye pencil is really good

If the product were truly better, I would spend the money. However, just because a product is more expensive, it does not mean it is better than a cheaper version. Some companies just charge more for fancy packaging, slick advertising, and gift with purchases.

I go for quality. I mainly use Lancome. Their foundations and powder are great. And their Mascara is the best selling mascara in the USA. More importantly though is skin care. If you don't take care of your skin it will not matter how much you pay for your make-up. Always use a daily moisturizer with at least SPF 15. And I believe in eye cream as much as I believe in oxygen. lol
FYI.........everynight that you sleep in your makeup it ages your skin 7 days.

Foundation has to stay allday and eye shadows too but lipstick or eyes liner i dont mind having to re-apply. I actually like to do it.
I would spend money to avoid reapplying, but I've tried a lot of brands, and still usually need touch ups by noon. (MAC and tons of brands from Sephora included. . . .) I think MAC eyeshadow lasts a long time. The thing I have the most trouble with is eyeliner. I would spend twice as much if I could cut my time in half!
Well, not really. I use Maybelline and it's pretty reasonable compared to the other brands like Mary Kay and so on. But I don't have to reapply it anytime during the day. It's stays on from morning when I apply it till night.
I usually buy my makeup at the drug store but i tried sephoras makeup once and you can tell the difference of quality. there lip liner was 14.00 so i dont get it that often but it is the nicest shade of brown plus you can just put it all over your lips and add gloss and its lipstick.
I spend more on foundation, but all the rest of the makeup is the same, no matter the brand.

Spend your money on Foundation. That's the particular make-up that will look cheap if you go cheap. Unless you have really great skin and no oil problems.
Other than that you can go to a discount store for everything else. I like LashExact by Covergirl, Lip Stick by Wet-N-Wild, Eye Shadows by just about anyone.
The only time you need to spend more money on say eye shadow is if you have problems with your shadow creasing or fading. Then you will need to invest in something a little more expensive.
Go to some counters at the Mall and have them apply make-up early in the day. Pay attention to how it feels, whether it stays on your face, whether you breakout or not, how it looks. Take notes every time you go to a different counter. Then go on-line and contact consultants in your area for Avon, MaryKaye, and Beauticontrol. They will do make-overs for free. Again take notes and pay attention to how it looks and feels throughout an entire day.
Your foundation is the key. I love Beauticontrol's Wet/Dry foundation. I have combo skin and problems with acne and it's the only foundation that has ever felt this good, gone one easily, and stayed all day.
I'll stick with the cheaper stuff, especially because I have this super oily skin, and would need to reapply for that reason, plus I don't mind re-applying. This is just me personally, but I prefer doing $20 on a dress that'll make me feel sexy than on a new lipstick that I wouldn't use everyday.

So really, how the heck do you go about figuring out just which one is the one for you? Answer: bring a girlfriend. You need someone that will say ';no'; when you get hit with the sales pitch and someone that will be completely honest with you once you've had your millioneth makeover.
Before you head to the counters, think about the look or looks you are trying to acheive. Do you want cosmetics that you could wear on a daily basis? for when you're at work? for a night out? for a special occasion? What about colours? How much cosmetics do you plan on wearing? Are you looking for foundation only, or do you want more? Also take into consideration your age; some cosmetics are targeted specifically for mature skin and others for younger skin. What about price point? How much do you have to spend? What are you willing to spend? When you have the answer to all of your questions, grab your best friend and go shopping!
Once at the counters, do a walk around. Look to see which counter has the colours you want, which counters are geared towards your age and of course, those that are in your price point. When you find the counter(s) that are best suited for your wants and needs, use your hands. You need to feel the product. Put some product on the back of your hands first. A jar (size 0.03 oz.) of blush takes over 5 years when used every day. A lot of the kits have the small jars (0.02 oz.) of blush. So you can get a kit or two and get different blushes and shadows. They always have brushes in their kits. I am using the brushes from my original kit from 8 years ago and they are still great. I do buy lip products from other lines when I see something I like. But the lip products from Bare Escentuals are awesome. I just run out of them before I do anything else.

The lipgloss is just a brand with a name. Nothing that incredibly special, however Eilzabeth Arden makes a great lipgloss.
Christian Dior has really good mascara and perfumes.
I've never used their lip gloss,but i wear their mascara and face powder/shimmer,and i'd say they're worth the price.
Especially the mascara.
At the end of the day,you're mainly paying for the name anyway.

Yes you can. This is what i use on my face when i want to cover something up: Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse foundation. I use the creamy natural the light 5. I love that stuff! You should try it. You can get it at walmart or target or even HEB!

Sounds like you might have a condition called rosacea. There are some treatments you can get for it which will help...check with your doctor. If it is due to another cause, perhaps cosmetic surgery is your ultimate answer.
Until then, be sure you aren't wearing foundation that is so heavy that it actually looks WORSE than the blotchiness. I know I have a tendency to do that when I develop some acne.

I really wouldn't trust buying make-up online unless it was from a reputable company, and even then, I'd be doubtful. You don't know what you're going to receive and if you're not happy with it, I don't think you're going to be able to return it either (or maybe you can, depending on the company and the problem).
At least by buying it from the store, you know exactly what you're getting - the package hasn't been opened, it's obviously brand new, and yeah, definitely a new line.
Better to pay an extra few bucks and know what you're getting.

I need to know where the best place to start is.
Like if I should mix the products myself or hire a chemist. How much $$ estimate will I need?

Keep it a long term goal/hobby and see how it goes with night parties, etc. Get some micas and mix and see how people respond to it. Look up some success stories, see what they had to do or what they are doing. You will really find it difficult to keep your costs down. Alternatively, you'll have to offer some free services to promote yourself.

Sally Beauty supply carries their own line of makeup called Sally Girl. They have a large variety of eyeshadow colors for 99 cents each. They stay on well and don't crease, and you can try a lot of different colors without going broke. Whether you shoud wear more makeup on your eyes or lips--try out different looks, but remember, focus on either your eyes or your lips, but not both.
Take a long look at yourself in the mirror and pick your best feature. Once you've established if its your eyes or mouth, play that one up (and only that one). For example, I have really pretty eyes (not to sound high on myself, cuz I'm not), so I play up my eyes. At night when I go out, I do a smokey eye (greys or browns)and compliment it with a very soft pink or nude lipstick. During the day, I do a smokey eye, but with a softer palette of colours (pinks and mauves). If your lips are you better feature, do your eyes very neutral (light browns and beiges) and play your lips up with a red to add the ';wow'; factor. I, personally love MAC makeup, it's pricey, but it stays on longer and has higher pigments so you dont require as much, therefore, you have it longer before needing a replacement.

My personal favorites are Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation ($8), Make it Big Volumizing Mascara in Raven ($6), and the Hookup Lipglosses ($5)... particularly Shine Tubes in Creme Caramel and Glow Baby Glow Luxe in Melon Luxe. Use a liquid eyeliner. If it smears during the course of the day, it is due to the natural oils in your skin. Hint, only moisturize your eyes at night, skip it in the morning and use an eye primer. It creates a barrier between your skin and your makeup keeping the natural oils in your skin away from the makeup. Mary Kay is the only company I know of that sells this product and it is great. Affordable too! Also, when applying your eyeliner, use one hand to pull the eyelid flat by pulling on the outer corner while your eye is closed, then use the other hand to apply the liner. Good Luck!
I think gel or liquid will be your best bet! Liquid liner is becoming more and more popular as of recently but personally, I like gel eyeliner better than liquid. I don't think liquid stays on as long. Also, I find that many of the applicators that come with the liquid liners are not very easy to use.
Try MAC's Fluidline with either the 209, 210, or one of the angled brushes. %26amp; Try to apply the thinnest line as close to the lashes as possible and kind of work it in so there is no gap between the lashes and the liner. Youtube.com probably has some great videos to teach you how. The more times you apply it, the better you become! :)
Also, Bobbi Brown has a gel liner that is a Reader's Choice Award Winner in Allure magazine, but, I don't think they have as good of staying power. There are other brands with gel liners out there, such as Smashbox, that I haven't tried and some that might be a little cheaper. Some of the drugstore brands might have some at a way cheaper price, too.
If you're having difficulty, maybe try going to the department store, Ulta, or Sephora and they can teach and recommend the perfect eye liner, whether it be stick, liquid, gel, or whatever, for you.

Get adn eyeliner brush and black shadow. The brush is very thin and small and will help create a small line. Dab it in water before you put it in the shadow. The just get a little on the brush and get as close the lash line as possilbe. To make it last longer, prime your eyes or just use foundation on your eyelids before you put on eyemakeup.
Try Loreal HIP's cream liner, they're amazingggg.
But make sure you wait until it dries first and then you can go over the line with some black eyeshadow to set it.=] You also want to make sure your eyelid isn't greasy before you put your eyeliner on so try patting a little bit of pressed powder on closed eyelids before applying it. Use a liquid eyeliner. If it smears during the course of the day, it is due to the natural oils in your skin. Hint, only moisturize your eyes at night, skip it in the morning and use an eye primer. It creates a barrier between your skin and your makeup keeping the natural oils in your skin away from the makeup. Mary Kay is the only company I know of that sells this product and it is great. Affordable too! Also, when applying your eyeliner, use one hand to pull the eyelid flat by pulling on the outer corner while your eye is closed, then use the other hand to apply the liner. Good Luck!
I think gel or liquid will be your best bet! Liquid liner is becoming more and more popular as of recently but personally, I like gel eyeliner better than liquid. I don't think liquid stays on as long. Also, I find that many of the applicators that come with the liquid liners are not very easy to use.
Try MAC's Fluidline with either the 209, 210, or one of the angled brushes. %26amp; Try to apply the thinnest line as close to the lashes as possible and kind of work it in so there is no gap between the lashes and the liner. Youtube.com probably has some great videos to teach you how. The more times you apply it, the better you become! :)
Also, Bobbi Brown has a gel liner that is a Reader's Choice Award Winner in Allure magazine, but, I don't think they have as good of staying power. There are other brands with gel liners out there, such as Smashbox, that I haven't tried and some that might be a little cheaper. Some of the drugstore brands might have some at a way cheaper price, too.
If you're having difficulty, maybe try going to the department store, Ulta, or Sephora and they can teach and recommend the perfect eye liner, whether it be stick, liquid, gel, or whatever, for you.

Get adn eyeliner brush and black shadow. The brush is very thin and small and will help create a small line. Dab it in water before you put it in the shadow. The just get a little on the brush and get as close the lash line as possilbe. To make it last longer, prime your eyes or just use foundation on your eyelids before you put on eyemakeup.
Try Loreal HIP's cream liner, they're amazingggg.
But make sure you wait until it dries first and then you can go over the line with some black eyeshadow to set it.=] You also want to make sure your eyelid isn't greasy before you put your eyeliner on so try patting a little bit of pressed powder on closed eyelids before applying it. Its not that exspensive either, I always buy Toast and buff then mix them together to get my perfect shade, like in summer time i use more toast and winter time i use more of the buff, i also have just started using Marykay Bronze cream to powder foundation and it looks soo beautiful. but I would say Revlon is the best Makeup line it stays on and looks fresh all day.

I've got really sensitive skin and I have recently started using Bare Minerals and I love it. It's all natural, so it's healthy for your skin. It doesn't make me break out like Cover Girl or Maybeline or those other lines used to because it doesn't have any greasy components. And it's not too expensive. Although it is sold at higher end stores than CVS or Rite-Aid, it's not as expensive as, say, Clinique, and it's well worth the money.

Whenever you apply polish make sure you are applying a good base coat (especially with dark colors to avoid discoloring your nails) and a good top coat to help keep that polish in place.
OPI can be found at Ulta, most beauty supply stores and even some pharmacy chains now.

I like Sally Hansen's Maximum Adhesion Basecoat and their Acrylic Top Coat. With other base and topcoats (even other Sally Hansen products), my polish chips after a few days. However, with these two products, my polish lasts for a week or more regardless of the brand of polish! I used these two products with a Maybelline nail polish for my wedding, and my nails looked great for 8 days and survived decorating the church before the wedding and 5 days of swimming in the ocean on our honeymoon!
The polish does start to chip after about a week. However, if I leave it on longer than a week, my nails grow so fast that you see a gap of unpainted nail at the cuticle anyway!

A smoky eye is THE BEST. I've done a lot of girls' make up for their prom, but for your case, since you have a white dress, a smoky eye look would be the best.
What I had for my prom look was I had a dark silvery gray on my eyelids and then the black on the outer part of my eyelid. I had a pearly silvery white shadow underneath my eyebrows for a highlight. The white pearly color made my eyes stand out a lot!

I don't know if you need to use the same company for powder and foundation for example. Or toner and soap! I like stuff and different counters and like Chanel is so expensive I do love their toner. But MAC has some cheaper prices and i have heard their makeup is great? By far the best is STILA, if you have the money to spend, at the least get the Stila sheer color tinted moisturizer, its $30 for a 2 oz tube. It makes your skin look flawless without being too heavy, because it doubles as a moisturizer. genius. I swear by this stuff.
Stila is best for an everyday look. Great natural eyeshadows. I always stick with the seasonal color palets because they keep you updated and your blush will always perfectly compliment your eyes as well as your lips.
But if you want something more dramatic, like if you're going clubbin or on a night out, or you want the smoky eyes, then you have to go with MAC. By far the best in shadowing techniques and using multiple colors in your eyes to make them really pop. If you don't believe me just go to the MAC counter and look at the makeup artists.
Also, one of the best ways to learn how to put make up on is to get your make up done at a makeup counter. Ask to try out one of the new seasonal items and then ask for a mirror and hold it up and watch what they are doing with your other eye. Sorry to say it but your friends sometimes aren't the best way to learn. Although they are great help if you want to practice.What is a really good makeup line??
Honestly out of all makeup companies MAC is the only one I will wear myself. Before having proper training in cosmetology. I opted for cheaper brands such as clinique and the CVS brands (covergirl, maybelline). The products from these companies are cheap. It doesn't mean I would use max factor mascara or once in a while purchase a clinque lip gloss. But I think MAC is of higher quality and is the best when it comes to range. Another brand I love is Origins I don't use many of their products but I love their natural philosophy and their lip glosses have mint.
Kiehl's is a great brand for skincare. Bare essentials is nice for it's subtle. Philosophy and Benefit are very clever and also great products.I say take a walk around your cosmetic department in the local mall and get a feel for what products look good on you kinda like finding a signature perfume. I prefer MAC but you may find that you adore Estee Lauder. Good Luck

go for something that works for your skin. go to a department store and 'try before you buy'. You may find that one brand of foundation is great for you but the lipstick in that same brand sucks. Dont just stick to one 'line'. The best thing to splurge on makeup wise is foundation. This is the one the covers your skin so it has to work. You can buy cheap mascaras, fad eye shadow colours etc but just make sure you get a really good foundation for you. Good Luck.

I don't think that 12 is necessarily too young to start wearing makeup.. IF it is kept natural.
Your granddaughter should actually be wearing a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 to protect her skin every day. Try Neutrogena or Covergirl, they have natural tones (no more orange!) and blend easily, perfect for beginners.
As far as other makeup, she should be sticking to the most natural look possible. Try Neutrogena Lash Tint (a very natural pigment that will only tint her lashes- barely noticable) and some clear lip balm (try SoftLips- it comes in cherry and vanilla flavors, SPF 15, and imparts a gentle sheen). Stop there and she'll look beautiful and natural (and be protected from the sun).
I know that it's hard to watch this generation grow up faster and faster, but I'm sure that you had spats with your parents back in the day too. Hopefully, your granddaughter will find her own best look through trial and error (and gentle family guidance).

It will only want to make her wear more and more later in life because she never got her chance to taste what makeup felt like. My grandmother let my brother's aunt wear makeup and stuff when she was 7 because she knew she'd get over it. Now my dad's sister hardly even needs or wants to wear makeup.

I started wearing make-up at 12, maybe 12 1/2,
and I only used a tinted moisturiser in my skin tone,
and I used concealer for my eye shadow and to cover
those circles in the morning, I wore clear mascara,
I wore clear lip gloss and I used chapstick b4 I put it on,
Then I used a very fair pink blush with a very big powder
brush. I hope this helps you a bunch.

usally turned my skin orange and I didn't like it for that.

It is a pretty poor choice that your granddaughter and your daughter are making. I think that 12 year olds should only wear lipgloss, a bit of eyeshadow or mascara. Thats it. Their skin isn't meant to be damaged by all the oils that can be in makeup these days. I say, go to the makeup section in Target, etc and look for smackers or dottie loves..... Hope this helps!

Brands like Rimmel or collection 2000 are good make up brands for younger girls. As they are cheap and affordable on pokcet money etc.
They are quite good products too even thou they are the cheaper end of the market. Maybe just a light face powder if she wants to wear stuff on her face. OR just a concerler stick.
Maybe you could try and persaude her to wear clear mascara, clear lip gloss etc then she will feel made up but not look so made up.

[just as I probably will!!] but i really suggest bare minerals. It is made from all natural ingredients and will not clog pores and cause pimples. It looks very natural..so it will not look like she has a bunch of fake, orangy, goopy stuff on her face..but at the same time it covers well. You dont even have to go out to a department store to get it..just go to www.qvc.com and type in bare minerals. 12 year old skin is still supple. please stress the importance of how makeup is used to enhance beauty not cover it up. maybe just a little bit of gloss and curlash. if her skin is oily then she should try some oil blot paper or film not face powder or foundation-none of that. the trick is probably telling her she aint doin it right and it looks inappropriate because the color doesnt even match her skin. tell her that its okay to want to look good but at her age preteens/teens are prone to acne so shes just perpetuating the whole thing by adding more gunk to her skin. i would probably suspend her allowance if she defies me(my opinion anyway) its normal that shes getting into the girly thing so maybe its best to respect her preteen angsty coming of age thing but not by giving in to her. maybe you should plan a trip to the salon and get your nails done and have a three generation bonding day. she will feel grown up but she will be reminded that she still is a kid when her mom picks up the tab.

I don't think that 12 is necessarily too young to start wearing makeup.. IF it is kept natural.
Your granddaughter should actually be wearing a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 to protect her skin every day. Try Neutrogena or Covergirl, they have natural tones (no more orange!) and blend easily, perfect for beginners.
As far as other makeup, she should be sticking to the most natural look possible. Try Neutrogena Lash Tint (a very natural pigment that will only tint her lashes- barely noticable) and some clear lip balm (try SoftLips- it comes in cherry and vanilla flavors, SPF 15, and imparts a gentle sheen). Stop there and she'll look beautiful and natural (and be protected from the sun).
I know that it's hard to watch this generation grow up faster and faster, but I'm sure that you had spats with your parents back in the day too. Hopefully, your granddaughter will find her own best look through trial and error (and gentle family guidance).

It will only want to make her wear more and more later in life because she never got her chance to taste what makeup felt like. My grandmother let my brother's aunt wear makeup and stuff when she was 7 because she knew she'd get over it. Now my dad's sister hardly even needs or wants to wear makeup.

I started wearing make-up at 12, maybe 12 1/2,
and I only used a tinted moisturiser in my skin tone,
and I used concealer for my eye shadow and to cover
those circles in the morning, I wore clear mascara,
I wore clear lip gloss and I used chapstick b4 I put it on,
Then I used a very fair pink blush with a very big powder
brush. I hope this helps you a bunch.

usally turned my skin orange and I didn't like it for that.

It is a pretty poor choice that your granddaughter and your daughter are making. I think that 12 year olds should only wear lipgloss, a bit of eyeshadow or mascara. Thats it. Their skin isn't meant to be damaged by all the oils that can be in makeup these days. I say, go to the makeup section in Target, etc and look for smackers or dottie loves..... Hope this helps!

It looks very natural..so it will not look like she has a bunch of fake, orangy, goopy stuff on her face..but at the same time it covers well. You dont even have to go out to a department store to get it..just go to www.qvc.com and type in bare minerals. 12 year old skin is still supple. please stress the importance of how makeup is used to enhance beauty not cover it up. maybe just a little bit of gloss and curlash. if her skin is oily then she should try some oil blot paper or film not face powder or foundation-none of that. the trick is probably telling her she aint doin it right and it looks inappropriate because the color doesnt even match her skin. tell her that its okay to want to look good but at her age preteens/teens are prone to acne so shes just perpetuating the whole thing by adding more gunk to her skin. i would probably suspend her allowance if she defies me(my opinion anyway) its normal that shes getting into the girly thing so maybe its best to respect her preteen angsty coming of age thing but not by giving in to her. maybe you should plan a trip to the salon and get your nails done and have a three generation bonding day. she will feel grown up but she will be reminded that she still is a kid when her mom picks up the tab.

I think it really depends on your skin type and your reaction to makeups. I remember when I was a kid and just starting out to wear makeup, my mom started me with Clinque. I think foundation wise, I would stick with a brand like Clinque or Lancome, but for eye shadows or lipglosses I would try Neutrogena or even MARK by Avon.

I would suggest finding as many comcetic samples as you can, and just try them out. That's the only way.

I think it really depends on your skin type and your reaction to makeups. I remember when I was a kid and just starting out to wear makeup, my mom started me with Clinque. I think foundation wise, I would stick with a brand like Clinque or Lancome, but for eye shadows or lipglosses I would try Neutrogena or even MARK by Avon.
for me im 12. i dont think teenager 12-14 or whateve should splurge. you should get rimmel or covergirl.

I think different lines have different products, some are good, some are not.
I am 21 and I have been using mostly L'oreal, I think it is the best. My favourite cream - is happyskin. I think it really makes a difference.
Being a teenager is important to cleanse your face every day, for that I like Abricot Scrubs from St.Ives.
I would suggest finding as many comcetic samples as you can, and just try them out. That's the only way.
I have also tried Anne Yake products recently, but you could only afford them if you are like B.Spears or P.Hilton - 100 euro per jar. :)))
I'm 15, and I love urban decay shadows/glitter and colour liner/primer but seeing as it's quite pricey for me, I tend to use Rimmel and collection 2000 for basics like liners, foundations and powers.

Clinique carries makeup for acne-prone skin. (A plus for teenagers!)
Teenagers should be alway open for cool looks so go with hip or sassy with light vabriant colors like pink, blue, purple,yellow,green,cream,white and avoid darks because it'll only make you look like a raccoon. lol!
Well what works for me is to make it look like I'm not wearing any when I'm really wearing just a little
